Services & Capabilities
Everything Comsend provides — from the ordinary business telephone system every office expects, to the Signal filing, recording, and compliance tooling that makes it a legal-practice platform.
01 — Business telephonyA complete business telephone system
Comsend is a full PBX, not just an app. It provides the normal business telephone services every practice expects — with the same numbers, transfers, and auto-attendant behaviour you would buy from a traditional phone company.
- Auto-attendant / IVR: "Thank you for calling — press 1 for sales, press 2 for support, press 3 for accounts." Callers route themselves; prompts can be professionally recorded or text-to-speech.
- Call answering & routing: answer in business hours, after-hours menus, overflow to a second number, ring groups and call queues so a call is never dropped because one phone was busy.
- Voicemail to email: a message is recorded, transcribed, and sent to your inbox as audio plus text — and can also be forwarded to another phone.
- Call transfers: blind or attended transfers to an extension, a mobile, or an external number — including the classic "let me put you through to the lawyer handling your matter."
- SIP numbers & trunks: local numbers in every Australian capital city (02 / 03 / 07 / 08), SIP trunks to connect your existing PBX, and porting of your current numbers.
- Extensions & presence: a number per person, hunt groups, do-not-disturb, call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting, and music on hold.
- Conferencing: three-way and multi-party conference calls for client + counsel + solicitor.
The ordinary, done properly: these are the standard business-telephone capabilities — but they run on infrastructure you control, in Australia, with encrypted signalling. See Security verification →
02 — SignalSignal sync, history import & backup
Signal encrypts the message. Comsend makes it survive. The bridge works in three directions:
Live sync
Your Signal account is linked to Comsend. When a client messages you on Signal, the message is captured on your own device after Signal decrypts it, hashed, and filed into the vault against the client's matter — with the same chain of custody as any other evidence.
History import — before Comsend was installed
Signal Desktop keeps a complete, encrypted message history on your computer. The Comsend import tool decrypts that database and ingests every message, photo, and document — so the months or years of Signal conversations that existed before Comsend was installed are not lost. History is staged, deduplicated, and matched to clients by phone number.
Backup — the point of it all
Without Comsend, Signal messages live only on two phones. Lose one, wipe it, or upgrade it, and those messages are gone. With Comsend, every message is backed up into the vault at the point of receipt — filed, retained, and auditable — so client instructions on Signal survive device loss exactly like email does.
Encryption is not weakened. Messages remain end-to-end encrypted between you and the other party. Comsend captures the message on your device after Signal has decrypted it for you, then stores the copy under your own infrastructure's protection — it never sits in the middle of the Signal conversation.
03 — RecordingCall recording, client-aware
Pro records every call automatically — no consent announcements are needed for Queensland calls. A party to a call is entitled to record their own call. Comsend is client-aware: paired with White Rabbit legal practice software it identifies the client and matter, records the call, and files it to the matter automatically.
- Automatic, always-on: no button to forget — every call is recorded, timestamped and filed.
- Client-aware filing: with white-rabbit.com.au integration, recordings and transcripts append themselves to the client's matter automatically. Without the integration they remain accessible through your Comsend account.
- No recording announcements, ever: calls are recorded silently — not required in Queensland, and the PBX never plays a recording warning, regardless of the number dialled.
- Jurisdiction for the evidence certificate: when you certify a recording or transcript for court, nominate the jurisdiction and Comsend uses the right evidence-certificate template for that state or territory — because admissibility follows the certificate.
- Downloads on request: recordings and transcripts are exportable on demand — for court, for the client, or for the file.
Legally admissible evidence. Having proof is difficult. Having legally admissible evidence is gold. Comsend is built for exactly that — domestic violence and AVO applications included. White Rabbit can prepare your DV or AVO application from the evidence Comsend captures.
04 — TranscriptionAI transcription privacy
Post-call transcription turns every recorded call into a searchable transcript. The privacy model is simple: your audio does not leave your infrastructure.
- Private AI: transcription runs on local, self-hosted models — never a third-party cloud service. Privileged audio is processed by the same private engine used for the firm's other privileged material.
- Audio original, transcript index: the audio remains the original record; the transcript is a convenience layer for search and review, always traceable back to the recording.
- Who can read it: transcripts are stored in the vault under the same privilege and access controls as the rest of the matter file — only the people already entitled to the matter can read them.
- Enterprise: a dedicated transcription server (your own V100 or better) for near real-time transcription, with custom fine-tuned models for legal or medical vocabulary.
Transcript pricing: free with legal practice management integration or the storage add-on. Without them, transcripts are $10 each on request — still recorded, still searchable, just billed per transcript.
05 — ResidencyData residency & sovereignty
Every component of Comsend runs on hardware you control, in Australia:
- Phone system (PBX): your call routing, voicemail, and recording — on your own server.
- Edge server: authentication and push routing only. A relay, not a store — it never holds message content.
- Push server: your own wake-signal delivery. No Google, no Apple.
- Vault: where messages, calls, recordings, and transcripts are retained under the firm's retention lifecycle.
No third-party cloud dependency. A compromise of one component cannot reach another — the edge server, phone system, vault, and mail server run in separate, isolated containers on separate network segments.
06 — ExportsCompliance-ready exports
Pro and Enterprise include exports built for legal discovery:
- Call logs + transcripts + audio: export a matter's complete communication record — who called whom, when, what was said, and the original audio — in a single bundle.
- Chain of custody: every message and recording is hashed on receipt and stored with an audit trail, so an export can be tendered with a provable foundation.
- Privilege-aware: privileged material sits in a separate namespace and cannot be swept up by an ordinary disclosure export unless a lawyer explicitly reclassifies it.
- Audit logs: every access is logged — who, when, and why — proving the record was treated correctly from creation.
